Continuing Education Approved Provider Program
The Virginia Occupational Therapy Association (VOTA) Approved Provider Program (APP)authorizes continuing education (CE) providers to issue VOTA-approved CE hours. The APP assures that CE offered by Approved Providers is high quality and relevant to occupational therapy practitioners in the state of Virginia. VOTA-approved CE is specifically listed in Virginia’s regulations as acceptable for licensure renewal, which can provide your attendees with confidence that your course will meet their renewal requirements.
To become a VOTA Approved Provider, you must:
Submit a completed application and all supporting documentation.
Pay the application fee.
Receive course-specific approval (valid for one year, regardless of how many times the course is offered).
Follow VOTA criteria for content, instruction, and record-keeping.
Organizations: $200 per course
Individual Practitioners: $75 per course
Rush Fee: $100 for applications submitted within 30 days of course start date
When applying, be ready to provide:
Title
Instructor biographical information, including names and qualifications (resume or CV) If the instructor is not an OT, biographical information of an OTP who has been consulted on the course is required
Course description/abstract
Course learning objectives
Intended audience
Level of instruction (introductory, intermediate, advanced)
Format and methods of instruction
CE hours available
Sample course completion certificate with space for Approved Provider approval number and seal
Course schedule including breaks
List of references
Method of record keeping
Instructor Disclosure
Course promotional materials
Sample Participant evaluation
Key Responsibilities of Approved Providers
Maintain thorough records for at least 3 years
Track learner attendance and completion
Issue accurate certificates with VOTA approval number
Submit post-course evaluation summaries within 30 days
Ensure all promotional materials include required disclosures and statements
Failure to follow VOTA criteria may result in loss of Approved Provider status. Revocations will be publicly listed via VOTA communications.
