Pre-Conference Institutes

Preconference institutes are an excellent way to take a deeper dive into a topic matter, engage in small group discussion, and earn additional CE. These institutes will take place on the afternoon of Friday the 25th.

Session 1 (1:00-5:00pm)Contracture Management in the SNF/LTC Setting - Sheila R. Krajnik Ed.D, OTR/L (held at the Virginian)

Joint contractures are an unfortunate consequence of many musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Contractures are particularly prevalent in the SNF/LTC setting. This workshop will equip the OT practitioner with the necessary knowledge to understand the underlying problems associated with joint contractures and to assess and treat contractures.

Session 2 (2:00-5:00pm)Stable Minds: Trotting Towards Mental Well-Being - Tracy Russler, ESMHL, Assistant Director, Brook Hill Farm; Sydney Anderson, OTS; Kristin Keesee, M.Ed., MCJ, OTS; Carrie Morris, OTS; Katie Sainovich MOT, OTR/L, QMHP-C (held off-site)

Participants in this pre-conference institute will learn about programs offered at Brook Hill Farm, learn about the power of equine-assisted services to support both physical and mental health, participate in a model session, and envision opportunities for occupational therapists to expand their hoof-print using a barn-based approach.
